Limpopo Gala event for Guide of the Year 2014
The Lilizela Tourism Awards represent and reward the highest excellence in tourism in South Africa. The Lilizela Awards combine all industry related awards onto one premier platform. They are an initiative of the National Department of Tourism, spearheaded by South African Tourism and delivered by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa.
After numerous guest feedback, Michael went for the one-on-one interviews in Polokwane and then we received the official invitation for the Lilizela Provincial awards. This took place on Wednesday evening the 3rd of September 2014, at the Hans Merensky Hotel & Spa in Phalaborwa.
The evening was attended by some of the most prominent people in the industry. Ms Thembi Kunene, who is the National Chairperson for the Lilizela awards, was there to welcome and to remind everyone the key role we play in this beautiful country. The keynote address followed, which was done by the MEC of Economic Development and Tourism – Hon Seaparo Sekoati. He also handed out of the awards, and the rest of the evening we were treated to a show case of some of the regions traditional dances, and opportunity for the various industry ambassadors to mingle.
Michael walked away with 2nd place for the province, an amazing achievement for our very own guide and one of the youngest in the competition.
We thank everyone for supporting Michael and the lodge in this competition, without all our friends and wonderful guests’ support we couldn’t have done it.
